An interview with Lavinia
Lavinia started as a cleaning employee at Fisketorvet years before joining BIOPS. Today, she’s a supervisor leading teams across several locations. We sat down with her to talk about that journey – trust, responsibility, and what it means to lead a team you once worked alongside.
Q: How did your journey at BIOPS begin?
A: I joined BIOPS almost two and a half years ago as a cleaning employee at Fisketorvet. My journey at Fisketorvet, though, started six years ago, when I worked there for other cleaning companies. Around two years ago, I became a Supervisor at BIOPS. Looking back, it feels special to see how much can change when you stay committed to what you do.
Q: What was it like in your early days as a cleaning employee at Fisketorvet?
A: My first years taught me the importance of hard work, discipline, and consistency. I have always been punctual, serious, and very focused on details. I like things to be clean, organized, and welcoming. For me, it was never just about finishing a task – it was about doing it with care.
Q: You worked closely with Alina – what did you learn from her?
A: Alina has been a very important part of my journey. I have worked with her for around six years, and she has always supported and guided me, especially when I faced challenges.
She taught me that good leadership is about listening, understanding people, and being there for your team. She is not only my manager, but also a true example for me.
I hope she knows how much her support has meant to me.
Q: When did you notice that you were being given more responsibility and trust?
A: I noticed it when my colleagues and management started coming to me for help and trusting me with more responsibility. For me, trust is something you earn through your actions. I believe my consistency, reliability, and willingness to help are what built that trust.
Q: How has your day-to-day work changed since becoming a supervisor?
A: My responsibilities have changed. Today I organize schedules, support and train employees, make sure they have everything they need, and ensure that work is done according to plan. I still work hard side by side with my team. I believe a supervisor should be present, understand the work, and understand the needs of the people they lead.
Q: How does it feel to be responsible for more than 15 employees?
A: It is a big responsibility, but also something I am very proud of. I always try to make sure my team feels supported and that nobody feels they must face a problem alone. I believe that even when challenges appear, we should stay positive, communicate, and find solutions together.
Q: You also help at other BIOPS locations – what do you bring with you?
A: I bring the same dedication, responsibility, and attention to detail wherever I go. This year I also took on a new site within industry/tech. It is different from Fisketorvet, but I approach it with the same positive attitude and the same commitment to doing my best.
Q: What would you say to someone who wants to develop like you?
A: I would tell them to believe in themselves and never be afraid of making mistakes. Pay attention to your mistakes, learn from them, and use them to become better. Work hard, stay consistent, and take every opportunity to learn. You never know how far you can go until you give yourself the chance.
Q: What are you most proud of?
A: I am proud of the journey. I started in cleaning, and today I have the opportunity to lead and support a team. But what makes me most proud is that I have stayed true to myself along the way. I still care about the small details, I still work alongside my team, and I still want to give my best every day.
Q: Where do you see yourself going forward?
A: I want to keep learning, keep growing, and keep being someone my team can rely on. I don’t know exactly where the journey will take me, but I know I want to continue moving forward with the same passion and curiosity.
